We're looking for a senior-level Solution Architect who thrives under pressure, embraces complexity, and can lead the design and implementation of cutting-edge cloud-native systems.
This is a fully remote, contract-based position open to applicants in Colombia who speak and write fluent English. You will work with international teams and be expected to handle mission-critical architecture across a broad range of technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect, design, and document complex distributed systems leveraging microservices, APIs, and event-driven architectures.
- Collaborate with engineering, product, and DevOps teams to translate business goals into scalable, maintainable solutions.
- Oversee architecture for backend, frontend, infrastructure, and data pipelines.
- Ensure systems are high-performance, secure, fault-tolerant, and cost-effective on the cloud.
- Promote and enforce architectural best practices, code standards, and deployment pipelines.
- Provide guidance during sprint planning, technical reviews, and incident response.
- Stay current with evolving technologies, cloud services, and AI trends.
Required Experience & Skills
Technical Expertise (Mandatory)
We are not looking for generalists. You must be experienced and technically hands-on in most of the following areas:
Programming Languages:
- Python (Flask, FastAPI)
- Go, Rust
- Frontend experience: JavaScript/TypeScript, React or similar
Cloud & DevOps (Advanced Required):
- AWS: Deep knowledge of:
- Step Functions
- Lambda
- CloudWatch
- S3
- SQS
- API Gateway
- Route 53, VPCs, IAM, etc.
- Kubernetes: Deployment and scaling
- CI/CD pipelines: GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or similar
- DevOps practices: Monitoring, logging, automation, infra-as-code (e.g., Terraform)
AI & Data Systems:
- Experience designing prompts for LLMs (e.g., GPT, Claude)
- Experience building AI-powered applications
- Familiar with Vertex AI, model deployment, and ML pipelines
- BigQuery or equivalent (Redshift, Snowflake)
Data & APIs:
- Strong in MySQL and PostgreSQL
- Proven work with REST APIs and GraphQL
- Experience designing, consuming, and documenting APIs
Qualifications & Profile
- 6 to 10+ years in software development or solution architecture.
- Proven track record working in high-pressure, fast-paced, complex environments.
- Ability to make architectural trade-offs while ensuring delivery velocity.
- Excellent English communication skills (spoken and written).
- Ability to lead architecture discussions and mentor others.
- Experience working across remote teams and asynchronous environments.
Bonus (But Highly Desirable):
- AWS Solutions Architect certification or similar
- Exposure to GCP or Azure in production
- Experience with observability stacks (e.g., Grafana, Prometheus)
