Talento is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Drayage Specialist to join our dynamic logistics team. This role is ideal for professionals with 2-3 years of experience in drayage operations, container management, and port logistics. The Drayage Specialist will be responsible for coordinating and optimizing the movement of cargo from ports to warehouses or final destinations, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and cost-effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and oversee the end-to-end drayage process, ensuring timely and cost-effective transportation of goods from ports to distribution centers.
Coordinate with carriers, shippers, and port authorities to streamline container movements and minimize delays.
Monitor shipment status and proactively address potential disruptions, communicating updates to internal teams and customers.
Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, including customs requirements and transportation laws.
Negotiate rates and maintain strong relationships with drayage carriers to optimize cost savings and service levels.
Utilize transportation management systems (TMS) and other logistics tools to track, schedule, and manage container movements.
Analyze drayage performance metrics and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.
Collaborate with warehouse and supply chain teams to ensure seamless integration of drayage into broader logistics operations.
Address and resolve any disputes or issues related to detention, demurrage, or accessorial charges.
Qualifications
2-3 years of experience in drayage, intermodal logistics, or port operations.
Strong knowledge of port and rail regulations, drayage tariffs, and customs procedures.
Experience working with transportation management systems (TMS) and other logistics software.
Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and optimize drayage operations.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills to manage carrier relationships effectively.
Problem-solving mindset with the ability to troubleshoot and mitigate supply chain disruptions.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities simultaneously.
Knowledge of detention, demurrage, and related charges to prevent unnecessary costs.
